Dubliners...That's What We Are Now

Greetings from Dublin, everyone. We left Galway around 8:30am this morning and arrived here around 11:30am. After relaxing and grabbing some lunch, we had a tour of the city with Ms. Josephine O'Keefe (possibly a distant relation of our own Jacki O'Keefe). Josephine showed us the main points of interest around our hotel (which is right next to the Christchurch Cathedral for those of you who know Dublin).

The highlight of our walking tour was a visit to Trinity College, whose campus dates back to the 1590s. Pavel and I were disappointed that we couldn't find the office to apply for visiting professor positions! Aside from walking around the beautiful campus, we spent most of our time at the library that houses the Book of Kells, a 9th-century ornamental copy of the four Gospels in Latin. Josephine also told us that the book was written on the skins of approximately 185 calves, but she probably went into way too much detail about how the stillborn calves' skins were better to write on. As you can see, we saw a wide range of characters on our walk...from Oscar Wilde to a full-fledged zombie.

This evening we had a group dinner and then most of us hit The Temple Bar for a nightcap as you can see. All in all, it was a great day with great weather, and we're looking forward to a similar day tomorrow.
