Today we spent our last day in the Galway area exploring the island of Inis Mor, the largest of the three Aran Islands. We took a bus from the city out to Rosseval (a 45-minute drive) and then a 40-minute ferry trip out to Inis Mor. I think everyone would agree that it was a great day, helped by the fact that we had terrific weather (until we got back to Galway this evening). Many of us rented bicycles to explore the nine-mile island. Some smarter folks in the group (alas, I was not one of them) hired a driver for half the price that the bicycles cost. At least we were able to get a good deal of exercise by biking about 15 miles today, and I only fell off of the bike once. Amazingly, the only thing that I bruised was my ego. All of the students were much more adept at handling the bike than I was, so there were no other problems. I am curious, however, to see if any of us will be able to move tomorrow.

The highlight of the day was definitely the visit to the cliffs on Inis Mor. As you can see from the pictures, you can actually lay on the edge of the cliffs and look down into the rocks and water below. I held my breath as everyone inched out onto the edge, but we all made it back safe and sound.

With that, our time in Galway has sadly come to an end. We're off to Dublin by bus tomorrow, so I'll sign on again from there.
